01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Statesboro, GA, El Jalapeño is a vibrant Mexican restaurant that brings authentic, heartwarming flavors straight from traditional Mexican kitchens to your plate. Whether you're a fan of the bold zest of fresh salsa or crave the rich, indulgent comfort of melted queso, this local gem promises a culinary journey that’s both memorable and satisfying.

El Jalapeño’s menu bursts with delicious offerings that cater to all cravings. Start your meal with a shareable plate of their Nachos Supremos or indulge in the Fajita Nachos, piled high with your choice of grilled chicken, steak, or even shrimp, draped in creamy queso and bursting with flavor. The Mexican Fries, generously covered with grilled meat and queso, paired with tangy pickled jalapeños, offer a delightful twist on a classic, delivering layers of savory and spicy goodness in every bite.

For the entrees, their Especialidades truly shine. The Boro Special—grilled chicken, steak, or shrimp served atop fluffy rice, blanketed in a generous layer of queso—exemplifies the restaurant’s dedication to hearty, comforting Mexican fare. Other favorites include succulent Carnitas, the flavorful Gringa, and the Burrito California, stuffed with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and your choice of steak or chicken, then smothered in luscious queso. Each dish is crafted with care, reflecting the authentic recipes and cooking techniques brought directly from Mexico.

Finish your meal on a sweet note with delectable desserts like Mexiflan, where deep-fried flour tortillas hide a melted Hershey's Bar filling, crowned with cinnamon, sugar, whipped cream, and drizzled chocolate sauce—a perfect harmony of warm, crisp, and sweet textures. Sopapillas and churros with ice cream or whipped cream and chocolate sauce offer equally delightful choices that will satisfy any sweet tooth.

The atmosphere at El Jalapeño is warm and welcoming, with attentive service that makes you feel like part of the family. Guests have praised the friendly staff, including servers like Maddie and Dustin, who go above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. I like the idea of the cooking personal are really Mexicans they have in their heart that knowledge from style of the ruts authentic way to cook real Mexican food. The only thing there is that the cashier it is not Mexican and don’t know how to be friendly with the customer. Maybe she was having a bad day. I will appreciate that show respect and good customer skills please. Thank you!!!

First time I tried this place in Statesboro. It is El Jalapeño. We had good service, good food. Love their chips... tasted light, not real hard chips. Salsa was good. Angie had avocado dip and it looked fresh. I had taco salad and she had chimichanga plate.

Great service and good food. Steak in the Fajitas was a bit tough. No other complaints. Lunch portion was good enough. The atmosphere is perfect - well maintained and tidy. Will definitely go back if we happen to be in the area.

We arrived around 7ish for the all day Happy Hour and $1.50 Taco Tuesday! Although it was quite busy, we were seated in five minutes. Our server was Cameron and she was very attentive. She made sure we got our margs, tacos, plenty of napkins and water to stay hydrated throughout our dining experience!
